During 2010 the European Investment Bank supported 20 new projects in the United Kingdom. Total EIB support for these represented an engagement of more than GBP 4.1 billion (EUR 4,9 billion), 8% of the EIB’s overall activity. In the five years from 2006 to 2010 the EIB has provided GBP 17.2 billion for UK based projects.
Overall EIB lending operations in 2010 included significant projects in the energy, industry, health and education, urban infrastructure, water and industrial power sector and involving investment in schools across the country.
