In 2006-2010 the EIB provided loans in Latvia totalling EUR 1.3bn. Most of this lending supported EU cohesion and convergence objectives with regard to infrastructure, transport, water and sewerage. Loans were also made to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the energy sector.
