The ITF became operational in June 2007. Its aim is to increase EU investment in regional infrastructure in Africa, working together with other initiatives, actors and instruments, and on the basis of African ownership.
The Trust Fund combines grant resources from the European Commission and EU Member States with the technical and lending capacity of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EU development financiers, in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB).
